Alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson was born in Badin, North Carolina, on November 1, 1926 (he is 92 at this writing). Best known for his soulful, bluesy approach to playing the alto saxophone, in his formative years he was, as many of the bebop era were, heavily influenced by Charlie Parker. This release presents Donaldson’s complete original LP Blues Walk, presenting the saxophonist as the only horn in a quintet that also features Ray Barretto on congas.

High Quality 180gr., The Francis Wolff Collection, 2 Bonus Tracks. The main focus on the LP, however, consists of Coltrane’s tenor solos. All seven pieces issued on the album are compositions by the saxophonist. Giant Steps was John Coltrane’s debut on the Atlantic label and confirmed his importance in the jazz scene. At that time he was still a member of the Miles Davis group, which would soon record the immortal Kind of Blue.

Black Pumas is the self-titled debut album by American band Black Pumas. It was released on June 21, 2019, through ATO Records. The deluxe edition was nominated for Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on November 24, 2020, while "Colors" received two nominations for Record of the Year and Best American Roots Performance.

The Mancunian trumpeter, composer, DJ and label owner Matthew Halsall has long resided at the vanguard of the thriving UK modern jazz scene, issuing a slew of critically acclaimed releases as well as igniting the careers of numerous luminaries; Chip Wickham, Nat Birchall, Go Go Penguin and Mammal Hands to name just four.  Salute To The Sun is his latest offering and his first new missive since 2015. Recorded in his home studio over a sequence of weekly sessions with a hand-picked supporting cast comprising harpist Maddie Herbert, drummer Alan Taylor, percussionist Jack McCarthy, pianist Liviu Gheorghe, flautist and saxophonist Matt Cliffe and bassist and long-time collaborator Gavin Barras, the seven tracks assembled here echo the bandleader’s enduring fascination with the iconic spiritual jazz typified by Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders and Yusef Lateef and the modal, rain-washed British style essayed on Gilles Peterson’s impeccable Impressed series of compilations (Michael Garrick, Stan Tracey et al), this time filtered through the prism of ecological matters. 

Do You Like My Tight Sweater? is the first album by the electronic/dance duo Moloko, released in October 1995 in the UK and Australia, while being released in March 1997 in the US. The title of the album is derived from the singer Róisín Murphy's chat-up line to Mark Brydon at a party in 1994: "Do you like my tight sweater? See how it fits my body!" A romantic and professional relationship between the two continued for several years after.  Do You Like My Tight Sweater? combined three tracks ("Where Is the What If the What Is in Why?", "Party Weirdo", and "Ho Humm") from a 1995 independently released EP Where Is the What If the What Is in Why? (also known as Moloko EP) with fourteen new recordings. It was reported by Billboard in 1996 that total sales had reached 100,000 copies. As of 2003 it has sold over 250,000 copies worldwide. The album's first single, "Fun for Me", was used on the soundtrack of the 1997 film Batman and Robin, and was used as the theme for a Lucky Strike advertisement in Spain. The video, "Fun for Me" was inspired by Batman & Robin and directed by Bill Fishman.

Award-winning saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia announces her debut album SOURCE, to be released August 21, 2020 on Concord Jazz. Produced by Garcia herself in collaboration with celebrated producer Kwes (Bobby Womack, Solange, Nerija), the album is announced after the release of lead single “Pace” and a rousing live performance on the BBC’s 2020 Glastonbury Experience. SOURCE explores a multidimensional jazz sound layered with soul, afro-diasporic sounds and hints of dub-step along the way.

Róisín Murphy releases her fifth album, titled Róisín Machine. The album, which was made with Murphy’s regular collaborator Crooked Man, AKA DJ Parrot, follows 2015’s Hairless Toys (which was nominated for a Mercury Prize) and 2016’s Take Her Up To Monto, as well as her four-EP project with Maurice Fulton in 2018. Among its ten tracks are previously released singles like Narcissus and Murphy’s Law.
