Growing up in a royal household in Nigeria, Joni Haastrup began his musical journey performing for his brother's band Sneakers and was quickly snapped up as a vocalist for Orlando Julius Ekemode and his Modern Aces's 1966 Super Afro Soul album.

The Legendary Gyedu Blay Ambolley from Ghana, West Africa and his Sekondi Band has 29 music albums to his credit. "Ketan" is his number 30. Ambolley was born in the city of Sekondi-Takoradi (an area called Ketan), in the Western Region of Ghana, in West Africa. The multi-talented, International, Ghanaian Musician celebrated his "Silver Jubilee" in music in 1998.

Under the Junior Mendes alias, Luiz Mendes Jr was a key figure on the Brazilian funk/soul scene of the '70s and early '80s. As a writer, composer and producer, he had a hand in a variety of releases by such big-hitting Brazilian artists as Banda Black Rio and Tim Maia. In 1982 he recorded and released his sole solo album, Cococabana Sadia, a set that remains virtually unknown outside of his native Brazil.

In 2006, Osman Jr wanted to bring Nuyorican salsa sound into funk universe like it was done during the 70’s decade, wanting to break the academic rules and perpetuate the meeting between the latin clave and the funky beat. He reunited the best friends musicians, around him to build that real band project. The common link was their love for Jazz, Latin Funk, Soul & Hip Hop music.
