The album includes singles dating back as far as 1952, during Charles’ most inspired years (all of the material was produced by the legendary team of Ahmet Ertegün and Jerry Wexler). By 1959, the group with Paul Desmond had been in existence for nearly a decade and it was highly popular among jazz audiences. Brubeck’s fame even led to him being featured on the cover of Time magazine in 1954. The formation took the challenge to experiment with musical forms foreign to jazz and, in addition to playing standard tunes like everyone else, they introduced many new compositions that gave the formation its identity.

Chet Baker and Bill Evans, two perennial jazz stars who only rarely recorded together. By the time this album was made, Chet was known as much for his singing as for his trumpet playing. This LP, however, is entirely instrumental and consists of nine ballads performed in the styles of hard bop to cool jazz.

Chet Baker Sings is the debut vocal album by jazz musician Chet Baker, released in 1954 by Pacific Jazz Records. In 2001, the album received the Grammy Hall of Fame Award. It's difficult to decide whether Chet Baker was a trumpet player who sang or a singer who played trumpet but this cover centers on his singing, ideal for the titled album. Shot in Los Angeles, in February 15th, 1954 during the recording of the album itself. Inside we see another photo taken during the recording of the same album, this time in March 7th, 1955. The photographs of William Claxton define the essence of cool – his stunningly intimate images of icons like Chet Baker combine technical innovation and an unerring sense of the moment to forge a singular aesthetic he defined as ‘jazz for the eyes’ - Jason Ankeny (AllMusic).

Ethio jazz. That's what Mulatu Astatke called his style of music when he invented it back in the 1960s, and it means exactly what it implies: Ethiopian melodies played on Western instruments with room for improvisation. Astatke was a pioneer for his country's modern music. 

Julian “Cannonball” Adderley was already a highly successful jazz leader by September 1960. The previous year he had been a member of the brilliant Miles Davis Sextet, which also included John Coltrane (with whom Cannonball had recorded a wonderful quintet album Bin Chicago during February of that same year).

When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up is the second album by the indie rock band Snow Patrol, released on 24 April 2001 in the UK and 5 March in the US. Makaya McCraven released one of the 2018’s most acclaimed jazz albums in Universal Beings. Now, the Chicago-based drummer and producer is prepping to drop a companion piece called Universal Beings E&F Sides, in addition to a documentary series about the record. E&F Sides promises 14 “new pieces of organic beat music” that were cut from the original sessions for Universal Beings proper. One of those “Mak Attack”, which finds McCraven fiercely “attacking” his kit like the percussion beast that he is.
