These performances by the Dave Brubeck quartet recorded in 1958 during the opening night of Newport's Jazz Festival, are an impressive tribute to Duke's music, and among the very best of the Brubeck quartet offerings.

Dial 'M' for Monkey is the second studio album released in 2003 by the British electronic music artist Bonobo.

+MP3 Stuart Staples was already nurturing seeds for a different kind of Tindersticks album before lockdown halted their tour in early 2020. If 2019’s “No Treasure but Hope” saw the band rediscovering themselves as a unit, the follow-up reconfigures that unit so that everything familiar about Tindersticks sounds fresh again. “Distractions” is an album of subtle realignments and connections from a restless, intuitive band. Rich in texture and atmosphere, it lives between its open spaces and details, always finding new ways to connect with a song.  If it’s an album that resists easy summation, at least one thing is clear: though it isn’t untouched by the lockdown, “Distractions” is not ‘a lockdown album’. As Staples says, “I think the confinement provided an opportunity for something that was already happening. It is definitely a part of the album, but not a reaction to it.”

While this album carries the aesthetic torch that MSB has skillfully woven into the tapestry of their DNA, it also delves deeper into the experimental, exotic sounds that fill many of the coveted Sound Library and Soundtrack LPs of the late sixties and early seventies - an amalgamation of moog synths, electric pianos, drum machines, and a bevy of analog instrumentation, that ebb and flow in lush swells of Morriconian grandeur. + MP3

From Darkness sees the Israeli composer and bassist go back to the very core of his musical idiom and activity. A belief reinforced by the influence of two outstanding partners, pianist Nitai Hershkovits and drummer Daniel Dor. This unity between human and sound owes a lot to a virtue brought here to its highest intensity; mutual listening, a soulful and heartful science that presides over the destiny of true music. All eleven compositions were recorded with the impact of a live performance with clarity. From Darkness charts a path from obscurity to light. It is indeed a key step in Cohen’s long-term quest for the absolute and for purity. The art of this trio is rich and condensed; swarming with new ideas, reduced to the essential and crossed by a thousand subtly harmonized shades. “Here, three becomes one.”

The mix compilation is a playground of house, techno, electronica and breakbeat tracks where character and animated melodies wander and develop, all the while grounded by an acute sense of harmonic progression and rhythmic precision. The vinyl package is a set of two vinyl plates featuring 15 of the 22 tracks from Bonobo’s opening mix for the new fabric presents series. They are the full unmixed versions including both Bonobo’s exclusive tracks Ibrik and Flicker plus his Boston Common cut previously limited to vinyl only.
