WE RELEASE JAZZ

Jazz Contemporary Jazz

Official reissue of Ryo Fukui’s New York sessions with Lisle Atkinson on bass and Leroy Williams on drums. Recorded in February 1999 at Avatar Recording Studios and inspired by Ryo Fukui’s idol and mentor Barry Harris, the fourth album from the famed Sapporo pianist glows with poetic takes on classics by Charlie Parker, George Gershwin, and Cole Porter, plus a supreme remake of his very own Mellow Dream. This is full on bop magic, expressive, soulful, and vibrating with a bouncing swing feel.

WE RELEASE JAZZ

Jazz Contemporary Jazz

Official reissue of the final album from the legendary Hokkaido pianist behind Scenery and Mellow Dream. This album was recorded on January 25th and 26th 2015 at Sapporo jazz club Slowboat, a venue founded by Ryo Fukui in 1995 where he played countless times. It is a magnificent and very personal contemporary jazz offering, fluid, skillful, and full of breathtaking solos. 100% love! With Takumi Awaya (bass) and Ittetsu Takemura (drums).

WE RELEASE JAZZ

Jazz Sound Track

This LP showcases old-timey French composer Eric Demarsan’s score for 1970 noir flick Le Cercle Rouge. All the usual tropes are present and correct - vibraphone, massed brass, flutes etc. - and Demarsan’s flavours the music with elements of lounge jazz, big band and hard-boiled detectivism. Stands up well when yanked away from the screen.
